Violence against women is a global phenomenon with no social, economic or national borders. In particular, one in three women in Europe has suffered physical and / or sexual violence and 80% of victims of trafficking in the EU are women. Victims of violence are not only women, but entire families, communities and society as a whole. The EU and the United Nations launched an ambitious partnership to eradicate all forms of gender-based violence around the world. The goal of this partnership is to ensure the commitment of political leaders and to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SBAs), in particular Gender Equality (Goal 5) and Peace and Justice (Goal 16). Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right but also the foundation for a peaceful, sustainable and prosperous world.en_US
